Workshop Preparation - Furniture

Week four workshop is Furniture Photography.

This is a studio image and based on the length and strong shadow under the chair and the highlight reflections it was lit from the right hand side with a single light between two to two and a half metres above the ground. Studio light with an open reflector such as a P50 or P70 used. A white reflector would have been used on the right hand side close to the camera to detail light on that side and another reflector in front causing the secondary shadow under the chair. Camera position would have been at a hight just above mid-height of the chair to show the far arm rest. I estimate the focal length was 85mm and about 5m away from the chair. No props used.

Although more of a real estate photo than furniture I liked the look of it and various pieced depicted.
The image may have been taken with a 24 mm T/S lens and small aperture since the entire field of view is in focus. Distance from the subject 3 m. Lighting appears to come from a large natural light source. Strong shadow on the wall from the white pole and the lampshades, on the pillows and the rim lighting on the chair on the left. Other indications of the light coming from the left are the shadow on the right of the picture frame, the brightness on the left hand side and leg of the table compared with the right side. Props include the books and flowers on the table, the pillows on the sofa, floor lamps, end tables and painting on wall behind sofa. There can be a large reflector, white wall or more windows on the left hand side because looking at the metallic lampshades on their right hand side you can see there is a light source coming that direction.
